As a multidisciplinary field of study, Asian American Studies at IU grapples with pressing questions of identity, belonging, and power from the perspectives of Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Asian/Pacific diasporic histories, communities, and cultures. We practice innovative and rigorous approaches to research, teaching, and service.
Our faculty members are affiliated with a wide range of departments, allowing for productive collaboration, conversation, and exchange. Our research, creative activity, teaching, and programming are interconnected—all conducted with the overarching goal of generating novel possibilities for our increasingly globalized world.
Our program offers travel awards for graduate students to conduct research and creative activity, and to attend conferences.
